Acne extractions are best done by professionals. When attempting to extract acne on their own, clients may end up pushing the contents deeper into the skin and introducing bacteria into the affected area. During an acne extraction session, a specialist will use steam and sterile tools to manually clean out any clogged pores. First, the face will be cleansed, gently exfoliated, and then steamed.
This treatment is the most effective on blackheads and whiteheads, also known as comedones. These types of pimples can cause the skin to look uneven, bumpy, and rough in texture. Extractions can help to clear up unwanted acne and help to prevent future breakouts.
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells and vellus hair (“peach fuzz”). As a less invasive option to microdermabrasion, dermaplaning creates a smoother more refreshed look by forcing the skin to generate new healthy cells. Stimulating this cell turnover helps to treat hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and dull looking skin. Other benefits include improvement of blotchiness, sun spots, acne or congested skin, thickened skin, diffusion of rosacea and redness (due to stimulation of collagen and dermal thickening), prevention of ingrown hairs and shaving rash in men. By removing the vellus hair, dermaplaning reduces the amount of bacteria, dirt, and oil that gets trapped, which helps clients with acne concerns. Dermaplaning also helps makeup go on smoother and products to better penetrate the skin.
Hair composition will not change as a result of dermaplaning. Fine hairs will not grow back into thicker, coarser, or darker hairs.
After treatment clients will need to use gentle cleansers (no retinol) and apply sunscreen daily (although you should be doing this anyway!).
Unlike eyebrow tattooing, microblading is a non-invasive and semi-permanent manual tattoo method for filling in eyebrows. The cosmetic treatment is performed by using a sterilized fine blade that deposits pigments into the epidermis. The strokes are crisp and very fine, resulting in natural looking, hair-like strokes. Since pigment is inserted into only the dermal layer of the skin, it’s much less painful than a standard tattoo.
Microbladed eyebrows typically fade over one to three years.
Also known as “collagen induction therapy”, this a safe and simple procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles to stimulate the body’s own natural ability to regenerate cells and increase collagen development. If desired, topical numbing cream can be applied prior to your treatment. Using the Eclipse MicroPen, microneedling treatments are great for improving the tone and texture of skin, reducing the appearance of scars, improving photodamaged skin, helping to diminish unwanted pigmentation, and reducing mild to moderate wrinkles.
Most clients will need several microneedling treatments over several months in order to reach desired results. Additionally, microneedling is a lower-cost alternative to laser resurfacing.
Microdermabrasion is a treatment that gently exfoliates the skin using a minimally abrasive instrument to remove dead skin and improve the overall complexion of your skin. A small instrument sprays tiny crystals onto the skin and gently removes the outer layer of your skin. This treatment helps treat dull skin, brown spots, discoloration, sun damage, age spots, light scarring, and stretch marks. Many clients state that their skin feels smoother and looks brighter after just one treatment. Microdermabrasion can be used not only on the face, but on other parts of the body as well.
It is common for your skin to feel dry, tight, and look slightly pink for about 24 hours after the treatment. Fragrance-free skin moisturizer can help to alleviate these side effects.
Microdermabrasion treatments take about thirty minutes per session and typically last anywhere from six to twelve months.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
- Brighter complexion
- Smoother skin
- More even skin tone
- Reduction in age spots, light scarring, and sun damage
- Can improve blood and lymphatic circulation deep within the skin
- Enhances the absorption of skincare products such as moisturizers, acne creams, and makeup
- Unclogs and reduces the size of pores
Waxing is a semi-permanent hair removal technique which removes hair from the root. Typically, the hair will not begin to grow back until about six weeks later, although results vary by client and hair type. It is recommended that the hair be one-fourth to three-fourths of an inch long prior to waxing in order to get the best results. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen, prior to the appointment may help reduce any discomfort.
